DVD Recorder from Canada
My uncle who lives in Canada was telling me about how he was searching for a DVD recorder on the web and by chance came across a really cool service that some companies are now offering.
What these online companies do is offer DVD rental online. You subscribe to their company; pay about US$20 and then they priority mail you from 3 to 8 DVDs. You then watch them at your leisure and mail them back, in a self addressed envelope that came with the DVDs, to the company. I think the reason that my uncle likes this idea so much is because where he lives in Canada is far from what I would consider “civilization” and so it is quite difficult for him to get either new releases or older DVDs. Probably the reason he was looking into getting a DVD recorder. Where I live its quite easy to rent DVDs since there are three rental stores within a mile from where I live. Of course that means that when I want to rent something I have to drive there and back, wait in line and worst of all sometimes I make the whole trip just to find out that the DVD I want is out of stock. So I guess that idea of renting from an online “virtual” store really is a good one and worth trying. At least I will have the ability to check through their available titles from my own bedroom without ever having to get dressed or drive anywhere.
